I'm sure there are plenty of Trekkies out there who would scoff at the notion or claim to have noticed all of these actors in their resume building roles on various adaptions of the Gene Roddenberry classic... I'd be willing to bet they didn't. Although some of the following actors grew a career from their small and often forgettable characters on their respective Star Trek series', some already had substantial fame and outside of a way to make ends meet, had no real purpose on the television series beyond another check on the bucket list or a one off joke.
slater ... alley and cattrall were NOT in the series they were in the movies ...

They were still Star Trek... but it's still an extremely substantive point.
The author seemed baffled that they would appear when they were already established movie actors. Perhaps he would be less baffled if he understood that movie actors take movie roles because that is how they make money.
Also, the actor specifically said "On their respective Star Trek series"
What I want to know, is how someone who lacks knowledge of a series, and also shows mild contempt for the fandom and its fans.... is writing about this on a flipping fandom site.

You missed John Tesh. He played one of the Klingons who pain-sticked Word in the TNG episode "The Icarus Factor."

I thought this would be people with small roles like Teri Hatcher, not staring roles by someone famous when they did it like Andy Dick.

You also forgot Kelsey Grammer, Bebe Newworth, John Laroquette, Christopher Lloyd, Saul Rubinek, Stephen Hawking, Randy Pausch, James Worthy, Mae Jamison, King Abdulla of Jordan, Marvin Belli, Bryan Singer, Terri Hatcher, Ben Vereen, Corbin Bernsen and Joel Grey,
Kirstie Alley's appearance was far from a minor part or Eve pun a one-off. She had stated in interviews at the time that she had always been a fan of Star Trek, and had practiced being a Vulcan as a kid. For her it was a dream come true. Had she and Paramount been able to come to an agreement, she would've continued the role of Saavik at least to the next movie.

What idiot wrote this? Who in the blue blazes let them put it up?
First of, some of these are from films, not the series. It's no mystery why they were in the role. It's because it was a freaking movie role which means good money and another entry into their filmography.
For those who weren't in the movies.. there are plenty of other reasons than the two you've listed for being on the show. (The predominant one is that they worshiped the show as children... and they were invited to be on). It's not as enigmatic as you seem to think it is.
Secondly,, you highly underestimate the attention to detail and compulsive hoarding to episode specific trivia, the harder core trekkies/trekkers are capable of. You would SOUNDLY lose your bet. (especially as those peeps are already telling YOU about several actors you missed)
You're a bit silly to already be smug about their fail that exists only in your head. Especially as you're the only one who apparently finds it surprising these actors appeared. Hell, I'm a pretty half assed fan of the show... and even to ME this list looks like it should be titled "Fairly common knowledge that the author was previously oblivious to"
Which dovetails nicely with my third point... this is a fandom page. Holding yourself in a superior position to the members of that fandom will not make people read your articles. This is ESPECIALLY true if you fail to stick to the fandoms that you possess AT LEAST a layman's knowledge of. (maybe you're from the horror side of the site... and that's perfectly cool.. but dude.. write about what you KNOW)
For the record snarky only works if you aren't obviously clueless on the topic you are snarking on about.... if you're clueless, you just look like BOTH an asshole and an idiot.
